PDO (Polydioxanone) threads

PDO (Polydioxanone) threads are synthetic absorbable suture materials used in cardiac and pediatric surgeries for over 50 years. The thread lift procedure consists of introducing multiple very gentle threads in an area with 2 actions in mind: a nice initial gentle tightening and a secondary improvement a few months later when the threads are replaced by collagen strands.

PDO Mono Threads or ‘short threads’ are designed to perform a revitalization skin treatment, the treatment is beneficial for skin tightening, skin thickening and improving skin texture thus reducing the appearance of wrinkles. Once inserted into the skin, PDO mono threads activate collagen synthesis to gradually tighten and rejuvenate the skin. This provides the skin with a tighter feel and appearance and more of a youthful look.

Mono Threads are made from a material called Polydioxanone which is an absorbable polymer that is flexible and durable. Matrix PDO Thread induce production of collagen, creating a tightening effect for 6 to 12 months after your procedure. The threads become a support structure for your face allowing natural collagen and hyaluronic acid production to take place, over time the PDO thread will be fully absorbed by the body. Typically, around 10-30 PDO mono threads are used to treat an area.

 

 

Face Filling Techniques

PDO threads are also used for filling small areas of deficit. The unique double screw PDO threads are smoothly twisted threads without barbs. When they are put into place, they untwist, providing volume replacement and collagen growth. They are used in areas such as marionette lines, nasolabial lines and necklines.

Korean Facelift or V Lift

Korean facelift is an entirely different approach to treatment. Originating from Korea, these are non-barbed (floating threads). The vital action is to insert tiny threads deep in your skin to stimulate collagen. However, the nature of threads’ insertion creates an immediate armouring (or scaffolding) effect. As well as ongoing natural collagen growth. It is recommended to prevent sagging in the lower face as a preventative, collagen-stimulating treatment for women and men.

The Korean thread facelift provides a dual approach to facial rejuvenation. Firstly by plumping facial collagen and secondly by armouring facial sagging. The collagen growth helps top up the lost skin volume for more youthful contours, and the armouring improves uneven jawline and lines and folds across your face.

 

Small, medium and long floating threads. These are round and without barbs and are primarily used with collagen stimulation as well as armouring effect. These can also be placed deeper for the lipolysis effect or create lifting when arranged in vector lines.

Double screw threads. These are twisted mono threads that are used for volumising.
Long barbed or cog threads. These contain a small hook that grabs the skin once inserted for a more pronounced lifting against gravity. These are longer 15- 17 cm or even longer for the body. In addition, we provide PDO mint thread lift and MINT barbed threads.

Some swelling and bruising can be expected in this procedure as the skin is punctured and penetrated multiple times with the threads. This usually resolves within a few days to weeks depending on the patient.

The results of a PDO thread lift are immediate. Even better, results improve after two to three months as your body finishes producing new, healthy collagen.
